Five Oinks for The Ginger Pig, W12

Askew Road has a new resident.  The Ginger Pig has been only open for a couple weeks and already is the talk of the neighbourhood.  The locals have been waiting for this one for a while!  Half of the shop is a butchers, selling a selection of fresh cuts from their Yorkshire farm and the other side is a deli serving up delicious meals – such as meatballs in sauce, quiche, pies and sausage rolls that would make others pale in comparison.  All the food is cooked on premises in a lovely open kitchen on the shop floor.  The venue also has a large downstairs where cooking classes will soon be held.  The friendly staff are informative and helpful—one kind butcher even rolled all my meatballs for me…now that’s service and the meatballs were yummy too!

About Ginger Pig
The Ginger Pig farm use good old fashioned traditions when it comes to rearing their livestock.  Their animals roam the Yorkshire countryside where they enjoy a longer graze than industrial farms.  All Ginger Pig animals are also fed a natural diet, free of bulking proteins which mean they do grow slower and live a longer life as well as being 100% natural.

At a time when mass farming practices has led to many complications in the food industry, it’s nice to go back to traditional methods and know what isn’t put in our food supply.  The Ginger Pig—the next best thing to having your own farm.
